Description
COVID-19 revealed vulnerabilities around the world. With our multidisciplinary team, this theme will compare the administration of health security of many countries to learn best practices, assess what went wrong, and why. 1) How do biological, political, social and economic factors and vulnerabilities impact the assessment of and response to health threats? Do these factors vary by type of health threat? 2) Who/what is responsible for prevention, preparedness and pre-emption of health threats? What roles do individuals, organizations, states and the international community play? 3) How do issues of sovereignty impact how health security is addressed and managed? 4) How can Canada help to ensure coordination between plurilateral and multilateral institutions and regional and national health organizations to cope with the impact of future global pandemics?
