Providing a dynamic, cross-sector professional development and networking opportunity for senior members of the Canadian Armed Forces (i.e. Maj and CWO rank), the Public Service, academia (advanced PhD students, junior professors, and post-docs) and the media.
A major priority will be to help members of each sector of the defence and security community understand the perspectives of the other sectors.
The week will focus on providing greater understanding of:
Canada’s defence policy-making processes
threats facing Canada
the dynamics of Canadian civil-military relations
the challenges of procuring the best equipment and recruiting and retaining a diverse force
the roles played by Special Operations and Allies in Canadian security
the impact of the Canadian Armed Forces on domestic and international security
the future via a Strategic Foresight Exercise
Cost is $2000 CAD with a limited number of scholarships for emerging scholars. Participants will receive a CDSN Summer Institute Certificate upon completion
We will be selecting approximately 15 participants among the applicants. We will make admissions decisions with the aim of creating a cohort consisting of participants with a range of experiences, expertise, interests, and backgrounds.
