‘Intersectional Perspectives in Canadian IR’ seeks to inform attendees and future public servants about the pressing need for change from within the international affairs community in Canada, and how such change can be realized. Each panellist brings with them a unique perspective and expertise that is sure to appeal to all audience members. Our panelists include Huda Mukbil, a former senior intelligence officer of 16 years at the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) who now works as a consultant providing training and development to help close racial and gender gaps in the Canadian national security and intelligence community. We will also be joined by Cindie-Eve Bourassa, a director and trade commissioner at GAC involved in inclusivity programming and the promotion of Indigenous owned small/medium-sized businesses. Last but not least, we will hear from Siham Rayale, a Women’s Rights Specialist in Policy and Advocacy at Oxfam Canada, who has 10+ years of experience in the areas of development, peace, and security in post-conflict settings, working towards advancing gender equality.
