  • Ito was born in NAGOYA city, AICHI Prefecture in Japan in 1958

  • He graduated from National Defense University in 1981

  • He was commissioned JMSDF (Japan Maritime Self Defense Force) as a submarine officer.

  • He graduated with a Masters from Tsukuba University graduation school.

Ito’s first Commander’s job was Commanding Officer of JDS (Japanese Defense Ship) submarine HANASHIO and took part in RIMPAC98. Following this, he was assigned to the position of Defense and Naval Attaché of Japanese embassy in the USA where he focused on cooperation and discussion with Pentagon members chiefly on two big incidents, USS Greenville collision and Sep.11.

Upon his return to Japan, Ito was assigned to the position of 2nd Submarine Division Commander, Chief of Public Relations Office in MSO (Maritime staff office, headquarter), Director of Intelligence office in MSO, J2, N2N6, the superintendent for 2nd service school, Commandant of Joint Staff College, Kure District commander.

He has received two Legion of Merit from the US Secretary of Defence and retired in the summer of 2015.

Recently Ito is a Professor at K.I.T. (Kanazawa Institute of Technology) Toranomonn Graduate School of Innovation Management. Outside Director of Ubicom Holdings, Inc. and HIROSHIMA TOYOTA MOTOR CO., LTD and Board member of FRONTEO, Inc, Executive Director of All Japan Defense Association, AJDA and Director of Japan Society for Security and Crisis Management, JSSC.
