Simon Fraser University’s Department of Political Science is currently accepting applications for the 2021 Virtual NATO Field School and Simulation Program in collaboration with the NATO Defense College in Rome and Canada’s Delegation to NATO. The entirely remote program will bring graduate and undergraduate students from NATO member-states together in the summer term to gain experience in international relations and diplomacy, for which students earn 6 graduate or 12 undergraduate political science credits. Our field school’s goal is to equip future leaders with the confidence, skills and experience to prepare them for a career in various national and international defence, security and foreign policy sectors.
During the 12-week virtual summer program students will:
Learn through engagement, experience, observation, practice, and professional interaction with senior officials from Canada and Europe
Gain hands-on experience in political strategy, foreign policy formation, politico-military coordination, multilateral negotiation, strategic communication, cyber and information security, and media relations.
Receive specialized negotiation and diplomatic training from NATO officials
Interact with junior officials, regular soldiers, and interns all the way to senior politicians, generals and ambassadors who will share their experience, how they work, and what it takes to do multi-lateral security.
Please see our website for more information about the schedule, eligibility and application process. Deadline to apply is March 15, 2021.
